Rock829650 BMG IMP
Could a 50 BMG case blown out to have straight walls and a sharp shoulder, as most 50's as single shot it wouldnt matter much, could or would this be feasible?

RobgunbuilderIt's been done and you can get another 150 fps out of it. Of course you'll be paying $250 for a set of dies and $300 for a reamer. However, it's legal I believe only in FCSA heavy gun and unlimited class competion. I believe the rules specify a .50BMG case for light gun. They check!.-Rob

<KBGuns>How about blowing it out with strait walls and a sharp sholder, but reduce case lenth so that the power capacity is the same or slightly smaller. Similar to a 7.62x51mm scalled up, instead of the 30-06.
.508 Whinchester?

<Axel>KBGguns, a 308 Win does NOT have anywhere near the case capacity of a 30-06!

not what the man saide...
him say "imp 50 would LOOK LIKE scaled up 308" implying that the collective INTELLIGENCES would know that JM Browning used the 30-60 to scale up to the 50 BROWNING MG

Bob GI knew a guy who competed at a 1000yd match hosted by the FCSA that was using a 50 improved chambered rifle. Took almost 70 grains more powder than a standard 50 BMG to gain less than 200 fps. Also had to be concerned with washing out the barrel prematurely.
Not really a good trade off. Just my opinion.

<Per577>Hubel !!
I think the 20mm/50 cal. reminds me of a .378 Wby necked down to 7mm,but without belt.

ArockEDM Arms made a short run of 20mm/.50 actions about four years ago. Called them "Warlocks". Completed rifles looked to weigh in the 85 pound range but could have been more. Said to run an 850 gn projo at 4800 ft.sec. Got a pic somewhere; find it and I'll post it.

GrandpasezArock-This one here would get a 750 gr out at over 5000.They tested armour with it about 40 years ago.Get a cartridge picture of the one EDM did if
you can, as I am curious to see if they used the
double radius shoulder like one in my pic.Ed.

GrandpasezTrapper-Do you have a pic of the 12.7 x 108 mm long soviet round.Apicture of it next to 50 BMG
would be nice. And the base dimensions.I need to know the base diameter.

<'Trapper'>Sorry to say I do not. I'll go over to the Cartridge collector site and see if anyone can help.

<'Trapper'>More info: This from one Tom Fort:
Hi there,
I measured a few specimens from my collection and averaged the base diameter at .855. Hope that helps.

Mr. hubel458:
What about ressurection of 7.92x107 in some single shot rifle ? (I mean you like long cases
![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)
), or it could be chanded to .338x107 or so, maybe .458x107 could be nice

GrandpasezJeri--500 gr--Can you imagine what Rob and I

interesting possibilities.Ed.

Dago RedI really like the way that 7.92x107 looks, what do you think it would take to get brass for that thing? Looks like a rocket.
500gr, ignore the picture, it was fake from the beginning.

GrandpasezDagoRed--If I would have had some of that 107 mm
long brass, I might have made my wildcat 458
4.2 inches long,.With a straight design and belt
of course.Would be something for an experiment sometime.Ed.
