Older Ruger 77 with Tang Safety.
What kind of extractor/ejector does the Ruger 77 with the 2 position tang safety use?

Just wondering, as I found a used Ruger 77 in 458 winny, but have not seen it in person yet.

Thanks.

The Model 77 had an extractor that looked like a CRF but functioned like a M700 or Sako. It had an ejector similar to the M700.

Bottomline if you are looking for a CRF 458 this isn't it.

As usual just my $.02

It's still basicly a push feed.

so true. I came across a 7mm Mag for 150.00 tang safety and Rem 700 type plunger ejector etc . Smoother than glass it was but.....it was a push feed nonetheless. Them CZ's are a better offer if you ask me.

As a more than pleased shooter of tang safety M77's for years I would not get myself wrapped up in the theoretical controlled feed vs. push feed debate. My experience with the push feed Ruger's is exemplary.

+1 with boxhead. I own 4 tang models including a .458. Always a 77 as a 'go to' when hunting

For me the claw extractor has always been a big part of the CRF gun. While the older Ruger is not CRF it does have a great extractor. Many years ago my father accidently fired a shell in his 300 WM that had a bit of grit on it. I had to put the butt on the ground with the muzzle up and step on the bolt to get it open. Not all push feeds would do that.

I have never had a FAILURE TO FEED IN MY rUGER MODEL 77S IN 338 EVER.The wonderful model 70 winchester stainless in 338 win mag had to be rebuilt to feed and I still dont trust it.The Ruger 77 tang safety is a very smooth action that I do trust above the jamming winchester model 70 and jamming Remington model 700.I will build a tang safety as soon as its a factory chambering in a old ruger tang safety model 77.I love the tang safety.I hate the model 70 and remington model 700 safety.
