Muzzle Breaks
Hi there every one in the USA. I was wondering if you guys could help me. I intend to build or buy a rifle in 458win and have it converted to 458 Lott. The question is what is the most effective and quietist muzzle break I can buy and where can I get one. Thanking you for any help you may offer.

Regards Guesty vic Australia

Call George Vais at High Tech Gunworks. Most effective and quietest don't necessarily go together when it comes to muzzel brakes.-Rob

they are all loud, but then 458 Lotts are loud, I wouldn't be without one on a 458 Lott, they make me happy....

If you do a search on Vais brakes you will find where I posted two web-sites for them...one for Ron Bartlett in San Antonio who makes the original Vais brakes (which are great) and one for George Vais who for legal reasons now makes a different version called the High tech brake. I have no experience with this new brake.

The original version now made by Bartlett probably has the least increase in noise of any brake on the market and although it may not reduce recoil as much as some others it is still very effective. I have the original on a ltwt .375 and a ltwt .300 magnum and have never gotten a dirty look from anyone at the range and better still, there isn't any blast of gas back in my face (or into my scope lens) when I shoot.

If you can't find the postings, Ron's phone number in San Antonio is (210) 479-2803.
