Hornady 405 Win ammo available
Heads up! Hornady finally made a run of this ammo. Cheaper than Dirt had the best price I found @$44.89 shipped. Natchez has it, but Midway does not.

Thanks for the information.
It may be wise to pick up a couple boxes of factory ammo for future emergencies.

Thanks Jorge,
I sent a new .405 owner to this post and he bought 200 rounds. Now he will not need to buy brass!

That site has been a source of great deals for me. Last year I found Winchester 300 Savage ammo for 22/box and 405 for 27!

CTD had free shipping that more than offsets the buck fifty saved on AmmoSeek. I edited my post to show that.

Any word on whether brass will be available? I'm using it to form 375x2.5.
Thanks.

I called Hornady about 6 months ago and the lady said that they were going to make a run of ammo in June and it has just showed up. I asked if they were going to make brass available for reloaders and she said NO, there was not sufficient demand for brass. Now, if they are tooled up to make it for ammo, why cannot they make a little more for reloaders? Her reply was that they were just making ammo!??!! I talked to a friend of mine who is the GM for the biggest gun dealer in Houston and he told me that the Rem,Win, and Hornady Reps have all told him that there is more profit in selling ammo, very little in brass, so brass is a low/no priority with them. This is typical American Corporate shortsightedness that leads to problems down the road. I try to always buy American and I used Win brass almost exclusively for years, then they basically got out of the brass business, especially for their oddball stuff. I went to Remington, and a few years later they pulled the same stuff. I have been buying PRVI and having great luck with it and they have some oddball stuff like 22HP and 8x57, 9.3x62, etc. The point being that they see enough market to make it and export it to the U.S., but American manufacturers hang us out to dry. They have no sense of loyalty towards us and I will give them exactly the same. Starline is starting to add more rifle calibers to their line and when they make what I need, they will sure get my business! Rant turned off !!

Hornady and Winchester got into a pissing contest regarding the 405. It had to do with production numbers and promises made by Winchester so Hornady felt they got screwed and retaliated by stopping production of brass. Thank god I'm a hoarder and have a lifetime supply Smiler

RIP
Jamison/Captech International: Gone !

Starline makes "best quality" brass, jawohl !

https://www.starlinebrass.com/...s/customer-feedback/

Smart company, left California in 1993 for good ol' Sedalia, MO.
They do seem to be keeping on with keeping on, expanding what they offer.
Keep those doggies rollin'.

A few months ago Gary Reeder had Hornady .405 brass. It was expensive but he had it when no one else did.

Interesting that you mention brass.

Today I checked my available .405 brass and there are 500+ available.
Also more loaded, primed, and once fired 45-70 brass than I will ever need.

Now I will sleep better.
