Reloading 450 Barnes TSX with V-N530 in 458 Lott
Thanks to raamw I am now sitting on a pile of 450 Barnes TSX, at less than a quarter each delivered, I could not resist. I have and use Michael's data for the CEB 450's with N530.

So anyone using N530, and willing to share some data? Otherwise, I plan to drop 10% and work up.

Thanks,

I finally got the cork out. My major concern was that I had to set the Barnes about 1.3 to 1.4 millimeters deeper than the CEBs. The load seems to be compressed. I crimped at the top of the top groove with a Lee FCD die. I used full length new Hornady cases, the COL was 91.7 mm. This will fit the mag box and feeds well. Bullets did not move after firing 8 over the same round left in the mag box. Fed 215 primers.

The load of 81 grains of N530 works without problems for me, for the Barnes 450, CEB 450 and 420. All shoot to the same point at 50 yards. Work up careful, don't blame me for problems, you are on your own.

My favorite load for the Lott is the 450 gr CEB solid and the 420 grain Safari Raptor. They just work.

What velocity are you getting with that load ??

Phil Shoemaker : "I went to a .30-06 on a fine old Mauser action. That worked successfully for a few years until a wounded, vindictive brown bear taught me that precise bullet placement is not always possible in thick alders, at spitting distances and when time is measured in split seconds. Lucky to come out of that lesson alive, I decided to look for a more suitable rifle."
