MauserRe: Am I forgetting anything?
Everything looks good but not sure about the leather cover thing on the butt stock-looks too fancy for me I guess. You may also want to replace the facotry extractor with a custom "spring" tampered stainless extractor from Williams or Wisner.

GeorgeSOkay, the specs for my .458 project rifle are coming together. The rifle will be used for African lion, and large bovids, like Asiatic water buffalo and banteng.
- Action: Lefthand Model 70 currently chambered in .300 Win. Mag. (new Williams extractor ordered)
- Barrel: Douglas chrome-molybdenum, crowned at 23"
- Stock: Factory, steel-bedded, crossbolts added, relieved at tang.
- Pachmayr F990 recoil pad (would like to cover this with leather)
- Front sight: NECG Masterpiece banded front sight ramp with sourdough post.
- Rear sight: either a Talley peep sight, or Brockman's pop-up rear sight; both use Talley bases w/8-40 screws.
- Front sling stud: Brockman's Magnum sling swivel stud.
- Scope: Burris 1.5x
What have I forgotten, if anything? Any suggestions?
George
P.S. Trolls (that's you ScottS and all your personae) and TOTAL assholes (that's you, Mike375) need not reply, since a) you are on 'ignore', b) have never taken big game, and, c) are unwelcome.

475GuyGeorge, don't be so bashful. Tell us what you really think!

Given I now form part of George's signature line and specifically get references in his posting, I am glad he has me on IGNORE move. Holy shit, if he did not have me on IGNORE mode he would want to move into my house

MauserWondering what do you have for sale? Are you going to list them on Gunsamerica?

George, I can understand that. Personally I am going in the opposite direction. I will soon be cleaning out the safe to help defray the costs of hunting elephant. I can afford guns or hunting but not both, so I will reduce my weaponry to a reasonable number and spend the cash on trophy fees.
