Brandon.GleasonAHR upgrade 2
Secured an aramid stock from CZ and will be shipping out my 375 to Wayne the end of this week for his upgrade 2. I'm looking for some advise and maybe photos of rifles that you all have had him work on. Debating 21 vs 23" barrel. I'm leaning 21. Also looking for advise on which front site to go with. I'm leaning fiber optic but I'm open to thoughts and suggestions. Going with the gunkote finish, graphite color. This will be an all around rifle for hunting in the northeast US and hopefully get it to Africa a few times in my life.

Beretta682EI have fiber optic front sight. It's a back up if the scope does not work.
I have the 23 inch barrel.
I did the upgrade 2 and then sent it over for a full upgrade after I hunted the gun pretty hard.
The custom stock has a much nicer design than the cs stock.
Wayne will doña great job.

MopaneMikeI have fiber optic on my 21" 458 Lott.. I'm of two opinions on it.. 1st I love it! But the dia is a touch large for 100yd & up shots. On a 23" barrel I'm sure you'd be fine. I really wish NECG would make a smaller one. The viz-ability is such stand out it would still stand out greatly with a smaller dia. Specially on Buffalo.

Charles_HelmI have two rifles Wayne worked on with the fiber optic front sight. I have one (and another in the works) to have a brass bead with flip-up night sight. I think that arrangement is a little more robust but the bead will not stand out as well as the fiber optic sight does.
With the brass bead, I like it filed flat at an angle and with a flip-down hood, but I believe these cost a little more to source that the standard AHR sights.

surefire7Wayne just finished work on my 338-06 and did a great job.
I have only one rifle (404J) with a fiber optic sight (orange/red). It's not an AHR rifle, but it's by far the easiest front sight to see that I own. I love it. I am 64 years old.
21" barrel will lose you about 50-60 fps over the 23". As a hand loader I can easily get normal 375 velocities from 21". Using factory ammo the trajectory difference at 250 yards will be inconsequential. Which one will balance best? No noticeable difference because the barrel weight per inch at the thin end is minimal.

Brandon.GleasonThank you guys for your input and experience. I'll probably end up going with the fiber optic front sight. This will be back up to the Leupold Euro-30 1.25-4x that's resided on the rifle since just after I bought it. I'll talk to Wayne about his thoughts on balance with the 21 vs 23" barrel.

gunslinger55The only issue I have with fiber optic is in low light they are harder to see than a ivory or white bead as they rely on ambient light gathering. Having a front sight with a self illuminating insert would be great but hard to find. I usually get both but a pain to swap out. The flip up id a great idea but costly. For all around use a fiber optic is great. On handguns as well as rifles. I use FO on competition handguns and bow sight exclusively so I am very familiar with them as well

Brandon.GleasonWell, received my upgraded rifle today and I can honestly say it's everything I wanted. The rifle balances really well with the 23" barrel, and points very nicely. The action has fed one of everything I've tried to feed through it (235-300gr, spitzer, TTSX, TSX, round, flat, and empty cases). Side by side comparison between this rifle and my stock CZ 550 Lott is night and day. Love the reshaped bolt handle and really love the trigger. Hoping to get to the range early enough tonight before trap starts to send a few down range.
Now to just convince my wife I need one of Wayne's Big Game rifles for my 30th birthday to match it! Well, I've got almost two years to do that, so I better get going...

Brandon.GleasonOk, a few quick (crappy) cell phone pics. I apologize, my good camera is packed away in our impending house moving coming up in a few weeks.
