Quick expanding projectile for 375 H&H
Any one got any suggestions for a quick expanding projectile for the 375 H&H for Roo's and other light game?
have tried 250gn Sierras/220gn Hornady and Woodleigh 270gn protected points, any other suggestions ?

Any of the flat points made for the 375 Winchester.

220gr. Hornady, 235gr. Speer both expand very well at H&H velocities.

I have found the Nosler 260gr Ballistic tips to open up very nicely.

The other that really comes apart is the bullet that is made for the .375Winchester. I believe it's a 220gr flat point. I have had some of those in the past they are regular exploders at higher velocity.

Balistic tip is not made in ca. 375 The Partition is in 260 and 300 grn.

Give the Taipans a go mate, they will open up and you won't be paying through the nose for them.

235 Speers. They are accurate and functional.

Ballistic Tips are available in 260 grain, Andre. Have been for about a year. I shoot them in my 376 Steyr.

For quick expansion, I recommend the Hornady 220 grain flat point at 3000 fps. It gives me a big WOW! on rabbits every time. The Woodleigh .375 bullets are designed for the H&H cartridge and will expand less quickly than the Hornady which is designed for lever guns and not intended to be pushed quickly.

In a .338, the 200 grain Hornady flat point also expands quickly as it was designed for the old .33 Winchester.

Harry,

Jeffe, I bought a ProHunter back when they got cheap. Loved the round, hate the gun so I traded it recently. Now I'm building a new one on an MRC 1999 shorty (perfect fit) and a nice piece of real wood. I guess they dropped the 375/260 gr BT when they came out with the Accubond. It would seem to be redundant to have both.

Guys,

The .375BallisticTips disappeared when the AccuBonds came out. I still have a couple of boxes of the BTs in 260gr. They were cheap enough to shoot a lot at the range.

Nope, never got the chance. I am about a month out on the 505 Gibbs for sight regulation and was going to get in touch with you for that. Ought to be fun hey? The 550 barrel is 8 to 10 weeks out plus chamber time and the 376 will be done by August. In between I'm finishing a 250-3000 AI. Right now I'm too buried makin' em to shoot 'em. Damn sad, isn't it?!

Damn sad...
I'll be your crash test dummy... er dummy.. .. er load tester... I'll have the 500 back and running mid next month... we'll go burn loads of powder.. you order and wc852 yet? you will.. believe me... tell me when you do, and I'll probably be in for another keg, to split the hazmat.

IF bauska can delver my barrel, i am ~2 weeks after receit to be ready to blast away.. just did 80-90% of the action work on it.. ~.3degree "taper"...

now, if i can figure out the mag.... Think I'll use an enfield floorplate to cover up my messes

I agree with Surestrike, the 260 Nosler will open up plenty on anything you shoot with it and it will put a hole in the offside everytime...It is a bit distructive.

Thanks Guys!

Hiwall,

Yeh I think I will go for the Taipans, have only used their 350gn Flat point in the 450 and found them ok, good price too!

Price is a major consideration, use my 375 nearly everyday, and expensive projies like Noslers can get a bit dear.

I can get Woodleighs for $40 per 50, but know matter how cheap I get them, it just doesnt feel right shooting them at a lowly Roo.

Thanks again!
