On occasion, I use a Nikon 1X fixed power telescopic sight in Talley QD mounts when using my CZ 550 American Safari Magnum rifle in .458 Lott caliber with "full power" Factory loads:
I use a TruGlo Red Dot sight (the integral Weaver mount fits the rear CZ rifle rail - as do all such integral mounts) when shooting "reduced loads" -- I am not confident it will withstand the battering recoil of "full strength" loads:
Both scopes are easily/quickly dismounted (and reliably/quickly remounted) when switching to open sight shooting.

mrjulian_1970James,
I'm curious... how does a Weaver style mount fit on the rear dovetail? I thought a Weaver-compatible base needed a cross slot to accommodate the recoil tab in the ring/mount...?

The Weaver mount retaining screw shafts are positioned outside the front and rear surfaces of the CZ rail (actually they are above the top of the CZ rail and do not interfere with the mounting). It is not a rock solid mounting system and I only use it when I am shooting reduced loads which produce very little recoil (in this circumstance it performs very well for me) -- my eyesight is now too bad for me to use iron sights while target shooting.

fourboreI like the current line of Nikon scopes very much. Times change and the way the wind blows today is the Nikon is IMHO, the best value scope out here. My only bitch might be, by the time I buy and shoot one of these Nikons, the product line has changes and I need try another. I never saw that 1x, does it work like the shotgun scopes with no parallax and infinite eye relief?

Factory parallex setting is 75 yards. Eye relief is 4.3-13 inches.
No magnification does facilitate "both eyes open aiming" -- a very important feature for me. The inherently wide field of view is also an important feature.

analog_peninsulaI use the Pentax Lightseeker version of your Nikon on my .500 A2. It's terrific and I see much better than with irons.
