lavacaRecommendations for a .416 Rigby
Outstanding! And just in time for Father's Day. You'll never have to ask the question of whether you were good sons.

Amen.
And you did your father well going with the 416 Rigby. It's a wonderful safari rifle and plains game rifle. He may want to bring a sentimental second rifle, but the Rigby will truly do it all.
If he likes to fiddle around with his rifles you should get him some of the new 350 grain Tipped TSX Barnes bullets. Those things have a .444 BC, are stable in 16.5" twist, are pretty, and can be safely loaded to 2800 fps (actually even hotter, but 2800 is a conservative max in a modern, strong rifle). Anywhere from 2650 to 2800 will provide a round that can take eland, roan, and zebra at 300+ yards or buffalo at 50. Get the matching-weight flat-nose solids for backup. After getting used to shooting it he may find that it works for guineafowl and oribi, too.
