Frank BellerPre-war Model 70 .375 Magnum ........
I just acquired a pre-war Model 70 heavy barreled .375 H & H Magnum rifle with a super slick action, G & H side mount, mirror barrel, and a Lyman 7/8" 2 1/2 power scope. A few questions: (1) the serial number is 132XX - when was it made and is this a first-year Model 70 ?
(2) where can I get 1" rings for the G & H base and slide ? and (3) did it come originally with a hood on the front sight ? Thanks for a great forum.

mstarlingFrank,
You need professional help!
Find a deserving soul or three and unburden yourself of some of these nasty pieces (of junk) that clutter your life!
I'll be happy to volunteer to help in your therapy
(Obviously just kidding of course ... but you could bring out the envy in your poorer friends! I think you may have acquired more toys since we retired than I have in my entire life!)
Leaving tomorrow. Should be back on June 8. Hope to be range ready by June 10 ... let me know when we can play! Will be chomping at the bit to shoot the 416 and the 470.

mstarlingBy the way, the manufacture date of your new rifle is 1937.

G&H has parts for your scope mount, but you can often find them on E-bay for a considerably lower price.
