Whats the difference between Ruger #1 & Tropical models ??
I saw a picture in an American Mag of the Ruger Tropical single shot and it looked so nice, that one day I would like to add one to my collection.
What is the diff between this and the standard #1, and also is that an integral Qtr Rib site on it ??

Ken ClineSame action and stock. Only difference is the calibers and heavy barrel contour. Also it has the Alexander Henry style forend (like some of the other models). It does have a quarter rib, sights, and the integral scope mounts.
Ken they look very nice !! The trouble would be which caliber would you get it in the lott or .416 Rigby. I kind of wish they made it in a .500 cal to.
I suppose the lott could be reamed out to .450 Rigby.

<phurley>I just started shooting a Ruger #1 Tropical in .416 Rigby and can report that my rifle shoots as well as it looks. I have be able to shoot excellent groups with three different bullets, a 370 grain North Fork, a 400 grain Swift A-Frame, as well as a 400 grain Hornady Round Nose.

Good shooting.
