jetdrvrHas anyone used...
...the Hornady .458 Win DGS solid on dangerous game? So far, I've seen no field reports on this bullet in this caliber. We'll be out for buff and ele. Not reloading for this caliber and just wondering if it's worth it to buy some to test for accuracy and feeding.

jetdrvrThe silence is deafening. Guess I won't be the first.

RustyJD,
I'm shooting them in my 450/400 3 inch. Just tearing up paper. I like the way they shoot in my double. Since they are brand new I don't think you will find anyone who has hunted with them, last year.
They look tough, coppr clad steel jacket. If it were me, I'd want to be one of the first to try em out on buffalo.

I have used the DGS 480 grain in the .500/450 on elephant with no complaint. Also in the .450 Rigby Mag. crew didn't find bullets

jetdrvrThanks. I'll buy a box and try them on paper.
Ivan Carter, Zim (and elsewhere) elephant PH, has used 480gr .458" Hornaday DGS's out of his 450NE and has had good success. He used them last season. You can find his report on them in the African Hunting forum here on AR. Try a search under his name.
