gohip2000feeding issue with me new CZ 375 H&H
I just bought a CZ in 375 h&h and it is rough feeding ammo from the magazine to the chamber.
If I cycle the bolt very fast, it will feed them most of the time, but if I cycle the bolt slower(normal pace) it hags up half way into the chamber. It seems like the claw on the bolt isn't allowing the cartridge head to slide all the way onto the bolt face. This does not allow the cartridge to staighten out on it's way into the chamber.
any suggestions? should I send it to CZ for warrenty work? Does it sound like the claw just needs to be reworked?

gohip2000I got it to feed by taking a taking a small amount of curvature off the edge of the claw and smoothing out a couple other sharp edges. now it will feed no matter how slow I work the bolt without the force it took before.

ShinzoWell done that man, & satifying too no doubt to know you supplied your own solution. CZs & the ZKK Brnos before them have long had a reputation for being rough out of the box & well rewarding a bit of work to polish race ways, cocking cams etc. They should at least check feeding ex factory though

chuck375I agree, that's unacceptable. When I first got mine (I ordered from their custom shop) my safety was stuck in the On position and the action was rough even though I paid for an action job. The custom shop fixed it in a matter of weeks and in fact replaced the entire barrel and action. It is a sweet gun now. If you have time. I recommend sending it back to CZ and talk to their shop on the phone directly.

gohip2000do you think I should still send it in even though it's feeding smoothly now?
the only other issue I've seen so far is that the bluing on the action and barrel is more of a brown tint and looks different than the bluing on the bolt and sites.
I will probably still send it in

chuck375No, if it's feeding smoothly now, CZ's blueing has never been perfect. I'd enjoy it and shoot it.

The bolt face has that lip on it and for some reason CZ does that take that last little bit of curve off so the case heads will slide up on the bolt face. If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, it would be easier than sending it back. It will fix the problem.

Dave Bushgohip:
I have a question. Tell me about your ammo. Are they reloads or factory stuff? If they are reloads, what kind of brass is it? Maybe it's not the rifle at all.
If it was me, I would take a look at the ammo BEFORE I started carving on the rifle. .375s usually feed very well because of that gentle taper o the case.

BuliwyfSend it Back! Now!!

gohip2000I had double tap factory ammo and handloads loaded to the recommended COL.
It wasn't an issue of case taper at all. it was strictly the bolt face and claw. It feeds as smooth as butter now though. Will CZ take it back after I've worked on the bolt face? If not Then it would be kind of hard to tell them that it has feeding issues when it's feeding perfectly now. I could still send it back for the bluing. I'm still not decided yet.
I took it to the range today and it functioned perfectly.
The factory site is 4 inches to the left though. It says I can adjust the windage by drifting the rear site, but they put an indent in the site to keep it from moving.

RobgunbuilderYou did exactly the right thing. remove a small amount of metal from the back of the claw and smooth out thebottom of the extractor till a case just POPS into the boltface under the extractor claw and HOLDS the case. This takes about 2 minutes and feeding is then perfect. Why send it back to CZ. I would not bother. Congrats on a proper diagnosis and cure! -Rob

gohip2000I took my time. I took off a tiny bit, then saw if it would feed more, then took a tiny bit more and tryed feeding it again until it worked perfect. I also smoothed out the edges of the rails so the brass doesn't get scratched on it's way out of the magazine.
One thing I wasn't expecting is that this thing holds six rounds down and one in the chamber for 7!! Holy crap!
