[Big Grin] BC, are you SURE that's Axel's rifle? [Big Grin] [Big Grin] Or just a picture he found?

I only ask because I know he doesn't have such a gun.

I think you've been sold a bill of goods, pal. [Big Grin]

Score one for the old Axel Scamster.

Strange , the large cartridge in the picture definately has a shoulder , and it is definately not a .458 . Looks like Axel has picked out the wrong picture and fucked up again . He has a long ways to go to get the science of trolling down to a fine art . [Big Grin]

You got a sharp eye SDgunslinger. But I let the cat out of the bag. Axel doesn't own a .458 or any rifles! He's just jerking everyone around like he did with the lathe scam. [Big Grin]

If Axel's lips are moving, he's lying. [Roll Eyes]

I am just doing Axel a favor. He emailed me the photo of his 458 & I posted it for him. Just trying to be nice; life is too short not to be. When I look close at 1600x magnification in Adobe Photo Shop that does not appear to be a 458 round though. He must have gotten the ammo mixed up somehow.

It's easy to get things mixed up when you don't know what they are to start with. Axel is a foreign national and cannot even OWN a gun. In sending this bogus picture to you to post as "HIS 458," he obviously didn't catch the fact that SD noticed, i.e. that the rifle IS NOT a .458.

OOooops! [Big Grin]

This is like Axel's lathe. He will come back and say his REAL 458 is in the closet and he just posted this rifle to see if we were paying attention.

Yeah, uh huh. We believe you, Axel. Thousands wouldn't but we do. [Roll Eyes]

Too bad the picture doesn't show the muzzel end. Wonder why not? It looks like a CZ550 action in a Remington 700 Safari stock with a Dakota rear sling stud. I sure hope the color is a result of bad scanning of a picture and not the actual wood. The ammo looks like a 460WBY and a 308 so it obviously doesn't match the gun. I'm confused. -Rob

Bearclaw, thank you for posting this for me.

I have told you how I get access to firearms. My wife is an American. Technically speaking this rifle is HER'S!

You all asked me to post a picture of one of my custom rifles. I did. The bullets are a 308 and a 458 Ackley.

I apologize for the poor picture quality. I used a neighbors camera and it is cheap.

Robgunbuilder, why do you say the stock looks bad? I admit the rifle in person looks MUCH better, but I do not think it looks too bad in the picture either.

Here is a picture of a "450" Ackley. It doesn't have as much shoulder in the picture as the round under the gun appears. Maybe you got the rounds mixed up?

When you're right, Longbob, you're right. I agree the round isn't a 450 Ackley anymore than Axel's first guess.

But this whole thing is kind of silly. I can post a picture of a quad .50 and claim it's mine.
Only thing I'm not sure of is which magazine Axel snipped this picture out of and scanned. [Eek!]

Can everyone say PHONEY?
19 October 2002, 11:05
<Axel>
This is my rifle!!!!!!! The picture is poor in quality and the details are hard to make out. It is a 450 Ackley next to a 308.

The rifle is a M70 Winchester Supergrade, orinially chambered in 458 Win mag, which has been rechambered to 450 Ackley. I despise the Winchester three position safety so I had it replaced with a Remington style side safety and a new bolt shroud made, which was a copy of the Weatherby MkV. I liked the integral scope mount feature of the Ruger M77 so I had low profile "copies" made to fit the M70's action bridges. They are screwed and silver soldered in place. This gives the rifle the look of a double square bridged Mauser with integral scope ring bases. The finishing touch is the 1/4 rib on the barrel.

Why does everyone say I scanned this from a magazine. I have not seen anyone else who posted pictures of their rifle accused of this dishonest behavior. Perhaps Robgunbuilder, John Ricks, and Jeffeosso, all just scanned in their pictures from magazines too. Maybe, they took their pictures from other websites, you know, like cut and paste. I bet you can find some good gun and machining pictures on gunsmith's websites!

Axel.

Axel,

May I make a suggestion. Take another picture of you holding the rifle with a sign saying that Pecos is an Arsehole. It would accomplish two things. One, that it is you and your rifle. And two, it would make me laugh at Pecos again. [Wink]

Are you sure that's not a 7.62x39 next to alleged 458? Why don't you ask the person who took this picture to look at the headstamps?

Hey, didn't Axel originally ask someone to post a pic of his "458 win mag"? http://www.serveroptions.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=16;t=002272

So, is this the 458 win mag, the 458 Ackley, or the 450 Ackley? Inquiring minds want to know.

Longbob
Axel,

I could be wrong, but I don't remember Winchester chambering any of their Supergrades in a 458 Win.

Robgunbuilder
Now maybe I'm blind, but that front and rear bridge and bolt shroud sure look like a CZ550 to me. Can you actually customize a Winchester M70 to make it into a CZ? Who did the work? How much did it cost? Bearclaw can you please enlarge this and verify? What happened to the muzzel?-Rob
19 October 2002, 12:16
<Axel>
My father machined the small parts. I had a local gunsmith do the rebluing and soldering.

What is the matter Robgunbuilder? You cannot figure out how to do any of this relatively simple machining? The scope mounting bases, 1/4 rib, and bolt shroud were all machined by my father. They were then soldered by a local smith and the whole rifle was reblued. I did the rechamber myself.

T.Carr, that is an old Winchester gallery gun isn't it? It appears to be in rather poor condition. Perhaps you should have it restored. I hear these rifles bring good money in the collectors market.

Longbob, if I posted a picture of myself holding the rifle, what would that prove? Nothing, I think. You guys would all just say that I had access to pictures of both the gun and the "owner".

Rob,

Do you mean that the action looks like this one. It does to me also. Here are the two compared.

 -

 -

 -

The last one is a current Winchester Model 70 for comparitive purposes. The first thing that sticks out to me is the shape of the bridges. You would have to add metal to the Model 70 to the the "double bridge." Also, notice the bolt handle. The Model 70 sweeps back and the CZ and "Axel Special" are the same.

Longbob,

READ MY POSTS!!!!!!!!!! I explained how the square bridges were created!

It is pretty obvious to me looking at the pictures YOU posted that the "bridges" on my rifle are considerably higher than those on the CZ550!!!!!!!!!!!

Re-read my post. Hold a note in your hand or something referring to this site, thread, or Pecos. It would prove that at least you have that gun.

Post a picture of yourself (holding a sheet of paper with "Axel" written on it) and the gun. That would prove that your aren't a worthless little prick.

No excuses! Do it!

Let's add one other thing, Longbob. I want to see Axel holding his rifle in one hand and his "ME degree" in the other. He can hang the sign saying I'm an ass around his neck. Maybe he could get his wife to pose with him and throw us all the bird. And you may as well pose for this picture in front of your REAL BIG lathe!

This would make us all laugh!

I have seen that rifle somewhere. I think it was from Michigan or in Cleveland, Ohio. The big cartridge looks like a 50 caliber maybe a 500 AHR. I suppose the stock was made by a stock maker outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Have fun guys.

Ok guys, I tried to stay away from this whole drama Axel vs. rest of the board but I can't resist it anymore. I knew he was a liar the moment I saw this picture. I had seen this picture somewhere on the internet but I couldn't remember where. I went through my favorite links and wahla. The picture is taken from Gatewood rifles webpage and the stock is done by Claude. It is infact a CZ chambered in .500 AHR. Go see "Axel's" rifle by clicking on this link.
