fritz454Re: ready for the first shots
I find it quite shootable without the brake with 160 gr of 7828 and a 900 gr FN bullet. With a brake I would equate it to a 30-06 in recoil. With out the brake it's close to a 375 H&H. Of course if you start to up the powder all bets are off. The recoil rises quickly from there.
That load is getting you about 1950-2000fps BTW. ANything up to 2250-2275 is very shootable but anything over that and the rifle wants to twist out of you hands. You better hold on tight. At 2400 it is absolutely brutal and I have no desire to ever shoot it at that level again.

tontoWith the 1040 cast bullets I was thinking about 1500fps. Give or take a bit. Thats what i think Dan was saying wouldnt require the brake. The full house 900gr will take every bit of help.

Thanks. I am lucky after I rough things out and am happy with the fit and ect I can give them to my son. He works in a real machine shop and is going to college for machinist. I will give him the pattern and he can mill out a nice part!

After I am happy with the bottom metal he is going to do it for me again. Only with no welding and mistakes.

500grainsI really like the Rigby style floorplate that you added. And 3 rounds of 600 OK down plus 1 in the chamber is enough to last a guy all day. With the 600 NE, my limit was 3 shots per day.

Here is a link to a web sight I have been putting togather on my build. Keep in mind she still is an unpollished diamond. You need to make some of those solids in 600 so I can test them.
