10.75x68 400gn & 2200 fps?
Is it realistic to get 2200 FPS with a 400 grain bullet in a 10.75x68 and with reasonable pressures (24" barrel)?

I searched old posts and found yes and no.

So am confused as to whether 2200 FPS is attainable or not.

By reasonable I mean by current/modern pressure standards not the original CIP specs.

It's a Mauser thing, you wouldn't understand.

Loadtech says 2110 at 41100 So I would think you could get 2200 provided the action and brass can handle more pressure. I have a .411 wildcat with 87grs capacity and I can break 2300 with no sign of pressure.

As usual just my $.02

Would love a setup like that with a MV of 2150fps. thumb

As long as I was getting 2125fps, with Woodleigh Softs and Solids, with no pressure signs, I would be happy hunting cape buff and elephants.

Did some testing earlier in the year with Hornady 400gr softs and 3031 and H335. 2143fps with the H335 and 2161fps with 3031. These were max loads in my rifle with flattened primers using H335. 24in bbl. Bob

I can't wait to get mine started! Looks like some very promising results. Has anyone tried the North Fork 380's? I bet that bullet would be perfect for the x68! Lighter weight for a little more velocity, but still .3 SD for plenty of penetration. I have been tempted to contact barnes about some possible shortened customs like Turnbull does with his 470's
