Mauser M03

MJinesMauser M03
Recently I picked up a Mauser M03 in .404 Jeffery. I know, push feed crap, no claw extractor, goofey cocking mechanism, detachable magazine, blah, blah, blah.
Went the range this weekend with my first batch of handloads, 73 grains of RL15, 400 grain Woodleigh and Federal 215M primer in a Norma case. Result: five shots in one oversized hole at 50 yards. So far I am very impressed and satisfied with the rifle. Feeding and functioning are perfect, scope mounting system is ingeniously easy to use, iron sights are very nice and accuracy is exceptional.
Now let the bashing begin . . . .

Charles_HelmYou may need an addition to your house for the DGRs at the rate you are going!

Of course, the more the merrier I say.
If you like it that is what counts. But how the heck do you decide which one to take back to Africa?

MJinesBuy, sell and trade . . . that is my motto. Picking a rifle to take is half the fun.

I'm good on the
buy part, but I fall flat on the sell or trade piece.

It does slow down the new acquisitions.

Tex21Well gee Mike...
It's a .404 Jeffery
It's a real, live, honest-to-God Mauser
And its real accurate.
What's there to complain about? Or am I missing something?

Charles_HelmI think Sig licensed "Mauser." As noted, it is a push-feed, not a traditional Mauser-style action.
But I bet it is finished well, it clearly shoots, and if it feeds and pleases the owner, that is what counts.

Well, there are those that believe that unless a rifle is CRF, has a claw extractor and box magazine then it is nothing more than a clever imitiation of a real rifle.
By the way, another one of the features I really like that I did not list is that the rifle takes down, which will make it nice to travel with. Which also means, $800 for a another barrel and you have a 9.3x62 or whatever other caliber you want.
Velocity is running between 2200 and 2300 fps. I am sure it could be stepped up, but what's the point.

When 500grains is telling people that Blasers are good, all bets are off!
Edit: Almost forgot:
