.505 Gibbs
I am looking for loading data for .505 and hoping to use Hodgdon extreme powders. Does anyone have any info.

I just use a load of 130 to 135 grains (dictated by trial with chronograph) of H4831SC Extreme with any 525 grain bullet to get about 2300 fps.
You may also refer to Nickudu's .505 Gibbs loads with RL-15 and filler (on Saeed's Reloading Pages) ... Just make a straight substitution of Varget Extreme for the RL-15. Perfect.

E.g.: 120 grains of Varget Extreme with 4 grains of Dacron filler, ought to give about 2300 fps with a 570 grainer.
There are lunatics out there who will insist upon loading the .505 Gibbs to 2500 fps with 600 grainers.
They had better have a GMA fat bolt and the rifle builder's nod to hotrod.
Thanks for the info. I want to avoid dacron. I was hoping to get a load that was just below or barely compressed. I'll run this through Quickload and see what comes up

P.S. I have found 2250 fps to be greatly effective and only minorly punishing.

Virginia CreeperRyan Breeding made my 505 Gibbs. Data he provided is quoted below. My reduced practice load that he reffers to is 122.0 gr of H-4831, Fed 215, Jamison Brass, Woodleigh 525 JSP.
"I am glad to hear you are having fun with your new rifle.I was very happy with the way it turned out. The load I used: 135 grains of H4831 is 2400 fps. I have used as much as 144 grains with a 600 grain woodleigh, but this is too heavy on recoil. It is a safe load at 2450 to 2500 fps. I have also used 128 grains of H4831 with 525 woodleigh at about 2200 fps. I am guessing your load will be short of 2100 fps. Let me know what you find out. Thanks for the update.
Best wishes,
Ryan"

RobgunbuilderI pretty much use the same load in the .505 Gibbs as in the .500 jeffery ( AHR varient). 135 grs of H4831 and a 525 gr woodleigh. -Rob
