Model 70 action???
Did anyone watch the hunting show Dangerous Game, where the gentlemen shot the Cape Buffalo in the rear end with a 460 Weatherby Magnum? I noticed, what I thought to be a Model 70 chambered in the 460... Would a person need a .375 H H and rebarrel it to the 460 and what about the bolt face and bolt toughness for this big of cartridge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know Ernst Scholz well, having hunted with him three times and he used to stay at my house when he first started coming to the USA doing the SCI Banquet circuit. If that was a Harris Talon in .460 Weatherby, that was a rifle that I delivered to him in '98. He handles it quite well. I shot a couple critters with it and found it brutal as it's a bit light.

He uses 500 Barnes X bullets. Shoots everything with it as it's often the only rifle he takes to TZ. I'm surprised if he bad hit something as he's probably the best game shot I've ever been around.

The PH in the Namibia episode for springbok with the Beretta semi-autos was Hartmut Freyer of Gauss Hunting. He and Ernst are pals since their early school years. The credits did list Ernst as the P.H. but probably because he organized it with Hartmut.

From this thread which was posted when the show aired originally.
