I am thinking of changing mine.I am also thinking of getting a Lapour 3 pos safety. How are those safeties and how does one go about stripping the bolt with one on?

Cock. Move safety to middle position. Remove bolt. Bobby Pitchford installed an Ed Lapour for me (Brno ZKK602 ) and had to do a lot of fitting/metal work. Excellent result and the CZ550 may be more forgiving.

Have you used the rifle in Africa? What chambering?

Yes. Brno rechambered to .375 Wby. CZ 550 in .416 Rigby. Haven't used the .375 since 3-pos safety installed, but plenty of practice ahead of intended safari to include red hartebeest, kudu, etc. Hate the CZ 550 safety lever -- on both the Rigby and a 7x64 the "knob" is too sharp. However, being standard/forward-to-fire is better than the Brno's old safety (rearward-to-fire) was.

I sent an email to Ralf Martini about the Lapour safety.I would be glad to get one on my CZ 550 and get rid of that CZ bolt shroud.I also buy into that argument of accidentally catching the CZ safety lever when cycling the bolt quickly.

That 375 would be great lion medicine.

I would talk to Wayne at AHR if I had a CZ in need of customizing.

I second Wayne at AHR, he put a nice single stage trigger and a M70 3 position safety on my CZ 550. I love it.
