gusbusOffset rings for Ruger M77 RSM 375
I just picked up a Ruger RSM in 375 for my second trip to Africa, hopefully in 2008. I'm putting a Leopold 2.5 x 8 on it, but the scope is too short for the standard Ruger rings.
Ruger offers offset rings, it looks to me like the single offset ring set has the rear ring offset, which doesn't help me, so I'll need to buy the double offset ring set.
Does anyone else have this rifle / scope combo and can you confirm that I am looking at the correct rings?
Second question: what yardages does Ruger set up the 3 rear blade sights for on the 375?
Thanks!

458RugerNo1Congrats on the .375 RSM, it's a fantastic rifle in EVERY way. I've had mine for just about two years and LOVE IT.
The express leaves are regulated for...
50, 100 and 200 yards.
They're set for a 300gr RN bullet at 2500fps. With this load/velocity my leaves are all dead-on at those ranges.
PS: Welcome to AR, this is the best site on the web for the hunting short - bar none. You'll learn a HELLUVA lot here from these guys, just tune in daily and you'll be well equipped in '08 when you go!

GaryVAI'm pretty sure I have a single front off-set Ruger ring for my RSM. I know I have a set of LEU front off-set rings for my RSM. If you own the RSM, just call Ruger and they will send you the correct ring or rings w/in a few days.
Search the archives. I think I've pulled my RSM out before and posted measurements/ringspacing for these rings to help someone else w/ this. I have no access to my stuff at the moment but will check back when I am.

Just curious, why did you choose the 2.5-8x36mm for this rifle? Cats?
I'm a big fan of the 2-7X and 2.5-8X, but wonder why it's chosen for a DGR(under 200yds) or plains game rifle(under 300yds) unless it is to be used in very low light esp. shooting big cats? That RSM is a good pound heavier than anything else and adding the heavier scope and rings makes it that much heavier. Obviously it works as many like it, I just don't see it when handling mine.

I called Ruger and the only thing they could offer was a rear offset ring, which doesn't help. So I ordered the Leupold offset rings, should work.

My next trip will be large plains game, eland and kudu. No dangerous game yet. The 2.5 x 8 is my favorite scope, it was a natural choice. If I step up to DG in future years, I may change to a smaller scope.
