AllenBoselyG.33/40 in .375H&H?
My wife and I have been talking about actions for her 2 rifles we going to have built for her.
A .250 Savage & 9.3x62.In a 1910 Mexican & G33/40(We think at this point).
Got me to wondering can a G.33/40 action be used to build a .375H&H? Small ring but small shank, enough metal? Or bad idea?

fla3006A 33/40 would have to be opened up and fitted with a longer magazine like any other standard length action to accommodate the 375. There is enough meat around the barrel shank but the 33/40 is typically used to build lightweight "mountain" rifles in 270, 280, etc. Not really appropriate for a 375 although it could be done.

AllenBoselyNot thinking so much about the weight as the look of the small ring.
I didn't know if it would be strong enough or not.
Of course the cost of the action would probably make it not worth it as opposed to just using a large ring.
If we can find one would use it for my wifes 9.3x62 if indeed that is her cartrage choice. Which it is looking like.

Then I would start with a Polish or other small ring standard length Mauser. Or you could turn down the ring on a large ring and make the ring and barrel shank the same diameter for a unique look.

Marc_StokeldI wouldn't do it. If you want something that looks like a small ring, get a pre-64 M70, Dakota, or Hein and build the .375 on that. That will look like a small ring, and you could mill lightening cuts on it if you wanted to. I have nothing against cutting, milling, grinding, and welding on Mausers, but I would not do the combo you are talking about.
