.22-10-45Tang Sights?
Hello, everyone. In the near future, I am about to recieve a .450/.400 Farquharson rifle made around 1902 on a Thomas Turner No. 1 action. Rifle weighs 8lb. 3 oz. I plan on working up reduced cast-bullet loads in the 300gr. to 400gr. range. The tang is drilled & tapped (has engraved headed filler screws in place) for a Lyman tang type sight. The brl. sights are the regular wide V..1 standing..two folding. Would it be worthwhile to mount a tang sight on? Would there be enough accuracy improvement to warrent it? I have heard of issues with right hand & recoil with such a sight mounted. Thank you!

MikelravyI hate those things personally, but you really will have to try it out to see if it works for you. And wear safety glasses.

.22-10-45Hello, and thanks for reply Mikelravy. I too have heard of potential eye damage..probably not worth it. Can I ask a possibly dumb sounding question? Assuming normal vision, using the wide V open sights & blade front..what is a reasonable group at 100yds?
Thanks!

~Arctic~I have a couple of original Farq's in 450/400, ......both will shoot 2" at 100, ...good enough for hunting. One has the tang sight also but shoots same group size.

MikelravyWith express sghts I am lucky to get 5" groups at a hundred yards. Which is largely due to my poor eyesight. That is good enough though.
