.530Woodleigh.50-140 Sharps
Where does one find an action that will handle a modern-pressue .50-140 load? I believe this is the .510 KE.

congomikeI built one many years ago on a Ruger #1 action. I believe I had Siegrest (sp?) gunshop do it. It was a 28" barrel, straight taper barrel ending at about .900 at the muzzle. It had a set of London Guns express sights for the rear and a Williams ramp front sight. I used the original stock of the donor gun, a 1H in .375. It had a mercury recoil reducer and a Decelerator pad. Overall weight was around 12 pounds. Shooting loads of about 2300 with a 600 gr. Barnes, it was not that bad. Very accurate. I really liked the 50-140 since is was way cheaper than 500 3" and it had a much thicker rim. Also used a set of 50-70 dies to reload for it. Very inexpensive "express rifle" in the early 80's.

Idaho Sharpshooter530,
that would be me as well. I do not really like belted cases. I had Dave Kiff cut me a 510 Wells Express (50 on the 460 Wbee) reamer without the belt. It worked as well as a 510WX or 500 A2 would, but I fell in heat doing the loadwork on a friend's 505 Gibbs and now I have one of those instead. A P14 or M1917 will work for the cartridge, it has the same OAL as a 460 Wbee, give or take. It also had the advantage of using 510 Wells dies.

I believe you typo-ed.
You mean the
510 Nitro Express of Bob Schneidmiller and D'arcy Echols.
According to COTW, the first was built by Echols on a Martin Hagn falling-block action.
A Ruger No.1 is indeed a great one for that.
It is just the Sharps 50-140 3-1/4" with modern bullets and powder.
My kind of RIP-off. Much like the 400 NFBP 3" became the 400/.395 NE, only on a bigger scale for the 510 NE.

The 500A2 may do more in a Ruger No.1, but not with the rimmed panache of the 510 NE.

buckeyeshooterI am looking at the reintroduced Winchester 1885 from Davidsons in 50-90 and having it rechambered to 50-140.
