I found it interesting that the amount of discussion on the 375 Ruger is totally out of propotion for a bore size which at best is at the very small end of the market. Perhaps we all have a bit of fantasy about us in that the 375 bore size is about as big as we can go and still have 30/06 type velocities or greater.

However, as best I can remember the 375 RUM did not generate much discussion. Could be it was "Remington" or perhaps because it was/is not seen as a direct competitor to the 375 H&H. The 375 Wby has also had some long and furious threads run and perhaps because like the 375 Ruger it is seen as a direct competitor to the 375 H&H.

Actually I think a lot of the 'fury' on those threads was caused by (i) false marketing hype (250 fps more velocity at the same pressure ), combined with (ii) fans of the new cartridge wanting social acceptance.

There he goes again, exhibiting typical extended-pinky-finger thinking about social acceptance, when that is not at all a thing worrying a .375 Ruger fan, or a .375 Wby fan, or a .378 Wby fan.

But I think a few of the 375 Ruger boys are a bit upset that it comes in the el cheapo rifle and JJs response from Ruger does not help

Remember that JJs response from Ruger said the 375 Ruger was for the working man and of course the H&H is reserved for those who can buy the better Ruger.

Ah, but the .375 Ruger is a better rifle than the RSM .375 H&H, so the Hawkeye needs no excuses. At least it has a recoil lug made integral to the action. It is 7.75 pounds of balanced lightning. The .375 H&H RSM is 10 pounds of lumbering, extended pinky finger hoity-toity and "recoil plate."

Yep, 14 different chamberings so far, IIRC, but the only "special" one putting on airs is the African in walnut. The rest are basically M77MkII's with a better trigger and a Sturm Ruger logo on the floorplate, a Phoenix rising from the ashes, or a Hank Williams, Jr. sign of endorsement.

The Alaskan will be less uppity in .375 Ruger, blackened stainless (hopefully) and synthetic stock with a trashy 20" barrel.

Oh for heaven's sakes, not another .375 Ruger thread!

The 375 R will find its home in NA. In this time of kevlar hide NA big game animals the 338 has become enemic and the 375 H&H is sort of out of the price range of the average hunter. For the big Bears and moose I think it will be popular. A nice little rifle for those who can't stand up to the 45-70
