Getting ready to "make-the-trip" and checked some old (loaded in 2006) .458's sitting in loading room for velocity.

They are .458 WM's loaded with 450 gr NF FNS bullets over 72 gr AA-2230 powder over Fed 215's in Win cases.

In 06 they average 2250 FPS with little spread and a random check produced exact same results. They are headed to Africa.

That load rattles when the case is shaken. No issues.

But why not load fresh for every trip? With the trouble and expanse, it is only wise, imo. (regardless the powder, bullet, cartridge, primer, brass, etc.)

JPK,
I know, I know... But if they are good...they are good. They have been sitting in the cabinet right next to the powder and primers.

With your random check data--they should be fine.

Other thoughts:

Did you seal the primers (and perhaps the neck)?

Stored indoors(A/C) or man-shed(garage-no A/C)?
