700 nitroswift-a frame....vs....barns-x
ok wich 1 do you prefer and why?
i like barns because
-reputation
-weight retention
-no lead so you dont have to worry about the lead core slipping out.
-can get them in many dif sizes weights
-and number1 they shoot great out of any rifle i try em in.
do you think the 4 peddles that form make a difference when it come to on game proformance

NBHunterMy top two choices for bullets. I have used both on bear but no real big or dangerous stuff. I think over all I prefer the "X" in favor of two things. A little cheaper and little more penitration. The X on one bear broke 4 bones, including the shoulder, and penitrated 2' and exited leaving a 1" hole and LOTS of blood. Bear dropped in it's tracks. I shot another bear 3 weeks ago with an A-Frame. Never hit any bones except the front of the ribcage, but penitrated 3.5' lengthways through him cuting his heart in two halves, turning his liver to jelly, went through a stomach full of oats and corn and continued to cut him a 1" exit wound. LOTS of blood. So in my mind it really comes down to how much you want to spend.
That and four quarters will give you a dollar

but I hope it helps.

smallfryBPBB... Both foul my bores enough to call it copper fouling, however, this is little concern to me as I clean them there after... end of story.
One reason Xs, failsafes, and GS(whatever they are called I havent tried them yet) penetrate better than conventionals is that they bend rather than deform through malleable deformation. This TAKES FAR LESS ENERGY TO DO, thus more energy is retained for/durning penetration. This is also in part why you will oftan see a somewhat tubular wound channel for the first 2/3 of a X's penetration, and then tappering off.
I use both swifts and Xs' and make the decision much like I make when I buy cereal, a very complex aand meaningless process.
Take care

trbI have no preferences yet, havent tried them. But I am working up loads for both Xs and A-Frames this winter, so next year I will be wiser?? Probably not... So Im also interested to learn from those who use these bullets. How do they compare to Nosler PT/Woodleigh? I reckon they penetrate more, but do they kill as fast? Do they ruin meat like the PT? And what about expansion at low velocities? Of all the silly things to keep you sleepless..
