Different calibers for 9.3X74R, or: Who is the biggest BORE?

How is that for a leading question? Why does the Sellier Bellot bullet at .364 differ from the other european 9.3 bullets at .366?

And does this bore size make a difference?

If i�m not wrong, the smaler diameter is for the 9,3*72R cartridge

The diameter makes a difference, accuracywise. Don�t use this bullet in anything but a 9.3x72R. This is a weak round, not good for anything but small deer at close range.

S & B makes a 286 grs RN for the 9.3x62 or 74R, too.

Don't know about you Euro dudes,but here in the states,a 193 grain bullet going 2000 FPS would classify the 9.3x72R as an exellent woods gun for all species of whitetail and mule deer and also black bear.It has about the same ballistics as the 35 Remington,which stateside is considered one of the best timber cartridges around.

In Europe, drive hunting is quite popular and shots are taken at running game (Roe, wild boar and red deer). The 9,3x72R (originally intended as a roedeer ctg. and since obsolete) is too weak for heavies, especially with less than ideal shot placement (they're chased by dogs, remember). The 9,3x74R or 9,3x62 are much more powerful with their 286 gn bullet at 2360 ft". Most animals go down on the spot or don't travel far after being hit. Also, if tracking is called for, the profuse blood spoor makes it far easier.

The norma 232gr Vulkan is 364 too and is accurate in my modern 366 barrel.

A lot of this is down to conversion from metric to imperial. Even the weight varies from 230, 231 and 232gr.
