Verney Carron Double Rifles
I was looking on Gunsamerica and noticed that someone was selling a Verney Carron underlever 450/400. I'd never heard of the maker before, anyone here have any experience with them?

Hi,

I believe its a french gunmaker... If I remember correctly my dad had a side by side shotgun made by Verney Carron...

talentrec: I have not direct experience with the Verney Carron´s guns, but very good quality should be expected. Perhaps you may wish to visit the following web page: www.armaspantera.com.ar. They are the importers for Argentina and show several of these guns.
Good luck.

They are an established French maker, with a history of making all sorts of guns. "Best" guns included.

There are, however, two different eras in question here for Verney Carron. I'm not sure of the exact dates, but you've got old hand-built guns on one side (box-locks, side-locks and DRs)... then you've got today's Verney Carron, which - like many gun companies - is an extension of a "best" gun maker's name on production guns.

Given it's configuration, I have little doubt that the gun you're refering to falls into the former category.

which brings you back to the first three rules of gun buying.
