If you buy a brno CZ 550 to make a 600 OK then what?
I was thinking that when the .600 OK can be build on the Brno CZ 550 action then there are plenty of used brno rifles here in sweden that are cheap.
But then when you have the .600 Ok rifle in your hands. There is no company that makes brass for it what I know or is there?
Woodleigh make bullets in .620 caliber so that is no problem. But just the brass.. and were do you buy reloading accessories ???
Thanks!

Ok, Rob has sorted out the brass with Dieter Horneber of Deuchland. The brass is great! The only limitation is the sourcing of it since no retailer has it. American Hunting Rifles, who have built at least 3-4 600 OK cal rifles, has it for sale. Otherwise, other owners always have some brass for sale. 50 cases could be a lifetime supply. Bullets are taken care by Woodleigh and others. Powders are available, etc.

Go for it. Talk to Rob about the 550 CZ conversion to 600 OK. He has done it.

Horneber for brass
CH4D for dies
Manson for the reamer
Pac-Nor 3 groove for the barrel.
AHR for assembly if you want to sub it out.
AHR for the single stack. (no feeding issues) but not necessary
Bullets are avaiable from several sorces
Powders to try IMR 7828 to start, 414 and ones of similar burn rates.

I will never be without one. I simply love mine. pluse it's named after you not how do you not have one. JMHO

Well your next step should be to contact Bofors for a 155mm howitzer. Or maybe for a 203 mm? jump

By my estimates at least 6000 cases have been made. You can order cases from Horneber or AHR. 50 will last a lifetime.-Rob

Between all teh versions of the 600 (the -1,-2 and -3) I think I have close to 800 cases not to mentionthe several hundred I turned early on. I think the total from my last ordr from AHR was 600 of all the versions. I hve wildcats to build.

That should keep me in brass for awhile I think.

I taken two deer and a cow elk so far. Not one moved a step. Furtherst was the elk at about 45 yards. broke both shoulders and that was that. teh deer were both at about 30 yards and both high shoulder shots. They dropped like they were dead before they hit the ground.

These small critters are no match for the 600. It need to go after buffalo at a minimum and really elephant to give it any workout on killing ability.

There is nothing alive that will not be put down with a good shot from the 600. End of story.

It would be interesting to see what it would do to the bison in the hunt that was posted by Ray.

In sweden, the best sources are a Lothar Walther barrel and Horneber brass can easily be bought from the manufacturer (Dieter Horneber)directly.

I can predict what it will do on a properly placed broadside on a Buff or Bison. .600 entry wound and a 1.5 inch exit wound. Verry MESSY and lots of blood spray! Bison will run off about 50 ft and fall over dead. Head on- chest cavity .600 entry wound and destruction of most if not all internal organs. Bison will either drop on the spot or run 50 yrds and fall over dead. Smaller game like deer kinda look like you punched a beer can through them. Very very Messy!-Rob

My observations are that the .600 OK with 900 gr woodleigh softpoints and it's huge frontal area and high velocity as compared to other .600's kills by a combination of deep penetration and incredible hydraulic shock. I have shot two black tail deer with it and a feral hog. Both deer ( about 200lbs each) looked just like you shoved a soda can full of cement through them. No recoverable bullets as they went through ( the boar lengthwise). On a frontal ELE I'd expect a near complete pass through with a Bridger Solid.-Rob
