378 Accuracy?
I had a USA built 378 and foolishly traded it off. It was very accurate. I now have a chance to buy a Japanese one and I'm wondering if anyone can let me know if I can expect good groups from them. My USA built one had a second recoil lug and was well bedded. How about the Japanese ones? Just for the record, all my other hunting guns are CRF except for a token Sako A111 375.

My .378 (Japanese made) shoots three shot 5/8" groups @ 100 yards. However, I made the mistake of putting a muzzle break on it and the accuracy opened up to around 1" to 1 1/2" groups. It's now at the gunsmith getting a new Schilen (SP) Barrel installed.
Barrel 26"
Muzzle Velocity 3180 fps.
270 grain Hornaday SP
Norma Brass
Federal 215 Primer
H-4831 115 grains
Group 5/8"@ 100 yards.
Hope this helps and good shooting.

GeorgeSI have asked POP to join this thread; he has a lot of experience with the .378 Wby. in Weatherby rifles.

Both the Made in Japan and Made in the US of A 378s have a barrel mounted recoil lug. The US made rifles have heavier barrels, same contour as on the 416 and the Accumarks.

Let's put it this way. I had 4 378's.
Both usa and japs have dual recoil lugs (all 378 and bigger calibers). The japs I had shot circles around the usa ones. Much better quality in my opinion.
I know have a 416 Wby jap Classicmark II that is a tackdriver! see here
