hello all.
In reading through the posts it sounds like some of you are using 450 dakota brass in 450 Rigby rimless rifles for plinking loads- velocity under 2000fps. Is this actually being done? I ask because I have 450 dakota brass and a 450 rigby rimless rifle- long story. Anyhow, I want to know if it has really been done.
Thanks for the help.450 dakota brass for 450 rimless riflesyesno

Idaho Sharpshooter
I used both cases with my 450 Dakota dies for a couple years. 500gr Solids/Softs at 2470fps. It will kill Cape Buffalo.

Get hold of Norma USA and see if they have .450 Rigby brass in stock. They should do (or can order it)

The nickeled cases are only sold as loaded ammo but the brass cases are sold as Componants. And I have scrounged plenty for a couple of the Kruger park rangers who like this caliber

The only significant difference is in the shoulder dimensions so they are not technically interchangeable. As you know the shoulder dimensions are critical for correct chambering. It sounds like it will work in the real world if run through the correct resizing die. If it were me I would try running them through a Rigby resizing die and then specing them out before taking the next step. I would not recommend trying anything without this as the first step. Great cartridge IMHO
