550 Magnum button rifled barrels
Since there is an interest in the button rifled barrels for the .550" caliber Mike Scherz is willing to offer these barrels in his contour so the sights, banded swivel, and rib fit like his cutrifled barrels. He quoted me a cost of 250.00 contoured and once he has enough barrel ordered he will get the ball rolling.

Mike is also going to offer both barrels (cutrifled or button rifled) in either the 550 Magnum or the 550 Short still have to name that one.

Anyone interested in a button rifled barrel let Mike know.

Jeff cases are done just need to mail them

Neal,

In some ways the 550 Short is probably better than the full length 550. You don't need to wear out a calculator to establish that the 550 Short will still easily develop ballistics that will take it beyond just about evryone's recoil thresholds and as such the 550 Short, 550 Full Length, 585 Nyati, 600 OK are for practical purposes all the same power.

However, the smaller case capacity of the 550 Short will make it better for reduced loads and of course it offers a wider choice of actions. Although the full length will be better from the point of view of making cases and doubly so if the shooter also has a 460 Wby parked in the gun safe.

I recieved 12 boxes of 600gr bullets from Hawk today weighted 53 pounds. They look like boxes of 9mm ammo.
