p dog shooterRe: Results 300gr 416 taylor bullets
I have worked up some higher vel loads with the resized pistol bullets
77grs of 4064 gives me 2630fp avg with the 300gr bullets not bad in the recoil dept or maybe Iam just getting use to it.

p dog shooterI made a swageing die out of a .410 lee bullet sizing die. Now it sizes 429 bullets to .41575. I sized a box of 300gr serria jackted 429 bullets.
70 grs of 4064 2400fps
65 grs of 4064 2242fps
60 grs of 4064 2100fps
70 grs of wcc 860 50 cal. powder 1424fps
Only had time to shoot 60 gr load for group 3 shots

one ragged hole at 50 yards nice mellow load to shoot. Any one would make a good deer blk bear load. The bullets are a lot cheaper then 416 rifle bullets.

Frank MartinezVery interesting idea. How did you make the die? Did you mill it out, or bore it? I don't know anything about either.
Thanks

p dog shooterFrank I ran a .413 drill through it first in my lathe then I polished it out the rest of the way with emery paper. I have a boring tool but in my old worn out lathe I wouldn't trust it.
It took me about a hr total but I was going slow and testing every little bit. By running .429 cast bullets when I got close I ran jacket got .414 plus polished a little more pushed a another one and got just under .416.
I have use this to make bullets for other hard to get and buy for sizes seems to work well.

fredj338Frank, Lee will make you a press type sizing die for $30. I am having one made in .423.

p dog shooterFred what is the turn around time for the die they are making you.

Frank MartinezVery smart. I will have to purchas one but that is very innovative. I don't have a lathe but do want to try a little swagging for an undersized bore.

Mike375That should be of interest to 404 J shooters and potential 404 shooters as they only have to come down to .423.
They sound like excellent kangaroo loads

fredj338They told me (4) weeks, it's been (3). I thought 300gr 44mag bullets would be way cheaper to shoot than even the Hawks in my .404Jeff. I'll post when it comes & I get to try it out.

p dog shooterI have been using the serria 300 grs so far they seem fairly tough. I have drove them to 2600 out of my taylor. not to bad resizeing them to 416 in one push. Going to 423 is going to be easy. Just put a little lube on them push them through.
