What kind of results (accuracy and game performance)have you received shooting Speer Nitrex factory ammo loaded with 285 Gr Grand Slam bullets in 375 H&H?

I used this ammo last year on a plains game hunt in Zim. In my opinion they were an excellent round to use on most plains game. Here is a list of animals taken this this round:

2 warthogs
2 impalas
2 kudus
2 zebras
1 tesessbe (spelling)
1 bushbuck
1 klipspringer
1 blue wildebeest
1 baboon

Most shots went cleanly thru the animal. The only recovered bullet was from one of the kudus. The bullet entered the neck and hit the spine. That bullet did break apart, but the kudu dropped dead on the spot. So, I can not say that the bullet failed.

The most impressive shot with that ammo was my zebra. At 80 yards it dropped dead with a single shot. The PH wanted me to use solids but the zebra just happened to be there on one of our stalks and I had to use the 285gr soft points.

I hope this helps.

SBT,
I've shot quite abit of the 285 grain Speer Nitrex ammo through my .375H&H at Zim and RSA plainsgame and concur wholeheartedly with the previous post. It's accurate, relatively inexpensive and effective. I don't know the exact number of animals taken with it, (close to 25) but I know I've never lost one. I can't comment on it's performance on heavy, dangerous game. It probably wouldn't be in my top 5 for buffalo, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it on cats.

Thanks for the info you guys. I just received two boxes from Aleko (Heritagearms) that I ordered on Monday. What great service. His price of $23 a box beats the hell out of $49 a box for the Remington Safari Grade.

I killed two buffalo last year with these bullets. Both were frontal shots at about 75 yards. One buffalo went about 50 yds and was dead when we reached him. The other was dead where he stood. I think that this bullet is light for buffalo but the two dead buffalo may have another opinion.

SBT,
Bought 8 boxes of the .375H&H Nitrex ammo from Heritage Arms and have to agree. Both price and service were excellent!

Bought 4 boxes From Cabelas under 100 delivered. I like the handy 5 packs. They work great on the pigs here in Texas and that allows me to practice more with my 375s.
