DoublegunCartridge belt
I am looking for a nice cartridge belt, one fit for .375. Will someone make a suggestion of where to look for a good one? I am looking for one with a classic design.
Thanks.

new_guyDick Murray of

MacD37Try Galazan @
http://www.gunshop.com Scroll down to bottom of the home page to sponsers, and select GALAZAN. Their leather belts are cartridge specific, and are about $69 I also like the canvas culling belt from Trader Keiths about $65. The DOUBLE DUTY also sold by Trader Keith's is a fine addtion for the double rifle shooter, at abou t $50!

Dago RedHey guys, I wanted to see what a culling belt looked like, I found this sight
culling belt picanybody ever tried their stuff? Just curious as price doesnt' look bad when compared to Murray.
Also, is there a book somewhere that shows all the old african hunting attire? I seem to remember a hunting jacket in Out of AFrica that Brors wore that had cartridge loops sewn into the front. Just curious.

DoublegunThat culling belt looks to be really nice, but I would think it would get a little heavy hauling around 20 rounds of .375 for miles.

bulldog563Culling belt is too heavy and not needed for most people. Personally I think the Africase stuff is the best. Much better quality then Murray Leather and they will make anything you want custom.

RustyNontraditional, synthetic, light weight and economical! Oh and it doesn't chemically react with the cases either! Uncle Mikes! One belt, and you can pre load as many or few of the ammo carriers as you have.

Nice leather & canvas (fire hose canvas) rifle belts. Canvas shouldn't react with brass, either. They will do custom work (my .458 winchester belt is almost done).

DoublegunQuestion: how many cartridges does one normally carry when hunting dangerous game?

Michael RobinsonSpeaking only for myself, and counting those in the magazine and up the spout, between twelve and sixteen.

ozhunterDoublegun, IMO twelve rounds minimum.
Once you seperate softs and solids you might have appox eight solids only.
For big game I carry twelve on my belt a few in the Bag with the tracker and what ever fits in the rifle.
The twenty round culling belt doesn't need to be filled up totaly and a gap between softs and solids is a good idea for fast loading, so sixteen rounds would not be to heavey with such a belt.
My belt is leather and I find it squeeks where canvas makes little noise.
Most PH's I have hunted with like to carry a minimum of twenty rounds.

I carried the exact rig as Rusty shows, all over Alaska and Botswana, and the lower 48.
A variation is to carry a nylon case with velcro flap as a slider, and open sliders as shown above, one on each side.
The empty flap case can go at small of back and at the end of day the ammo can be moved back into it from the open sliders.
Just a little better care of the ammo.
Works for me.
