I've found a used Ruger RSM in .375 H&H for $500. However, the rifle experienced water damage to the barrel while in its case when returning from Africa. It has been reblued but has a little surface roughness on the outer end of the barrel. Any thoughts? Thanks

How about the condition of the stock? It should be Circassion walnut. Sounds like a pretty good price if the barrel bluing is the only defect. If it were me, I would have it bead blasted and reblued. Then you would have a matte finish.

Last winter I bead blasted an old rust pitted 870 that I had acquired in a trade. I browned the metal and ended up with a matte brown finish that is very unique and very cool looking.

Rusty guns don't hold much value, the rifle might be had for a good bit less than $500.

If it were me,I'd snatch it up and send it to Ruger.They'll work on it for either free or close to it.
