Good day at the range
44deg F, sunny (for a while, then a snow squall). Mounted a new Leupold VX-III 2.5-8 with Leupold QR mounts so I could switch between the 1.5-6xLPS on my .416 Weatherby Eurosport and punched holes in paper.
Here is my best 3-shot group at 150 yards using factory 400g A-square monolithic solids. The others were closer to 1" for 3-shot groups. I am looking forward to trying the Bridgers as well as the Northforks that should be on their way soon.
Stay well,
Paul

That'll do!

You will love the Bridgers.

That load looks good, CCMdoc.

What weight Bridgers do you intend to use?

Thanks 500grains and George. I have ordered some 400g and will work up a good recipe for them - I like RL 22, but am interested in trying RL 25. Based upon what I have read here, I hope to be able to do as well or better with the Bridgers, though I don't think any animal will notice the difference
Stay well,
Paul

The Bridgers are very long for caliber. Keep that in mind when selecting powders.

Point well taken, George - thanks. Given the ralative burn rates RL19 may be a better ticket (not married to Alliant powders, but just what I have used in this caliber).
George, where do you practice with your behemoths? Huntington (that's where I always went when I lived in Bklyn)?
Stay well,
Paul

Hi Paul,

I haven't been to Huntington's range since they closed the second time due to claims of bullet damage from neighbors (who wanted the range closed for good). They wouldn't pro-rate my membership for the months lost, so I told them to stick it.

I shoot at a terrific range in NW New Jersey. It has everything except a good shotgun range. Air rifle, archery, .22lr Silhouette, pistol, rifle (100-200-300yds.), clubhouse, etc. on 57 acres. AND it's grandfathered in a watershed area, so no new development is permitted.

Not at this outing, but at the last, my Oehler 35 showed the following for a 5-shot strings average

400g A-aquare monolithics : 2690fps

Outdoor temp was hovering just at the 4 degree F mark at that time.

My Bridgers were being washed (yup, exactly what I was told) and will be shipped soon as of mid last week and a sample pack of NorthForks shold be forthcoming. I can't wait !

Stay well

Paul
