CraigPLeupold Euro-30 Scopes.
Does anyone know about the Leupold Euro-30 VX-2 lines of scopes? According to Midway they are made for the European market with 30mm tubes, metric reticle adjustments, Multicoat 4 lens coatings. They say theye were never before available in the U.S. How do you think the 1.25-4 would work on my soon-to-be completed 416 Taylor? Below is the link to the Midway page on these scopes.

Michael RobinsonInteresting.
The very low price makes me suspicious of its quality, though.
I've never seen any published review of these, either.

CraigPmrlexma,
I know what you mean. I was hoping some of our friends from Europe would be familiar with these scopes and chime in. I think I'm going to e-mail Leupold and see what they say about them.

GeorgeSCraig,
The Euro-30 scopes are equivalent to the new VXIIs in that only the exterior lens surfaces have the MC4 coatings. All the interior lenses have the old magnesium fluoride (Vari-X II-style) coatings.

CraigPI just checked with Midway...the 1.25-4x are all sold out. Guess I'll just go back to my original plan of using a Leupold 2.5x.

jstevensI got a couple of them, as I thought they were cheap. The only one I've played with is a 2-7x and it is quite a bit brighter than the 1.75-6x Leupold on my .416. I don't even have a rifle to put either of them on, I just thought the $279-$299 price was a deal, so now I need a couple more rifles.

GeorgeSYou should inquire as to whether the internal lenses are larger in the Euro-30 than they are in the U.S.-market Vari-X IIIs.

GrandpasezI have heard they are as bright as scopes costing twice as much.Ed.

GeorgeSEd,
I don't see how, as the internal lens surfaces have the old magnesium fluoride (Vari-X II) coatings, and judging by the amount of windage and elevation adjustment (67" @ 100yds.), they probably have the same size internal lenses as the 1" Leupolds.

P.S. Oh wait, maybe they used some of the same 'mojo' that makes cast bullets @1550fps such great Cape buffalo-killers.
