eezridrCZ 550 / 458 Lott
Gentlemen,
I was tinkering with my CZ 550 / 458 Lott this evening it will hold "6" rounds in the magazine and 1 up the spout for a total of 7 cartridges. Is this typical? I thought it was more like 5 down and 1 up the spout.
Perhaps mine has an unusually large magazine box. It will cycle all without a hick up.
A bunch of firepower if you ever needed it!

Long ago I had ZKK 602 .375 H&H which is cosmetically challenged and less polished version of CZ 550. It held 5 cartridges in the box. It's nice to have 7 ready even though one will almost never need all of them at one time.

Michael Robinsoneezridr, you got some lucky geometry there.
Mine will hold six down, but the last one is a very tight fit in the magazine and so won't feed properly.

SevensI have the CZ in 375 H&H and I can get 6 down plus one in the chamber. Not exactly the same as a 458 Lott, but the case is almost the same.
I have two stocks for this rifle and I notice that in the second stock I can only get 5 down as the 6 round just barely doesn't fit. Both are factory stocks, BTW. I wonder if the added round in the mag is due more to the depth of the stock then the magazine itself?
I never tried it because I have not had ammunition Lott 458.
Oscar.

My experience mirrors yours; that last round won't feed if I jam 6 down there. Wonder why his does? Slightly different fit of spring to follower?

fourboreMy cz550 in Lott with also hold 6 down.
Yes its a big gun!
The official website of Ceska indicates that the rifle Ceska 550 Safari Magnum (is the one I have) only load three cartridges 458 Lott.
