Parker-Hale .404 Jeff
Good Evening Gentlemen
About three months ago I bought a
Parker-Hale rifle from my BIL.
Now I've shot quite a few big bores over the years, but never owned one. This rifle is one of the rifles that Navy Arms imported here. This rifle is a .404 Jeffrey and the stock is particularly nice. I live in Eastern West Virginia and we actually see quite a few PH's
rifles here (Navy Arms was located a few miles from here). I guess my question is .... what can you guys tell me about these rifles? Where can I find a little more history on the PH .404. any help you guys can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks 31flathead
(By the way, This is the first and maybe only post I've ever put on the interweb - I live at the last can on the string

This is a good start:

I assume you know Hornady offers loaded ammo with higher performance and reasonable cost, as these things go. I dont have a 404 and would not mind accidentally finding one for cheep gathering dust in a small shop.

31flathead,

On this forum it's considered bad form to talk about a rifle and not post pictures of same. Wink

I'm of course kiddin' , if your .404 is as well put together as my Parker Hale .458 you've got a good rifle. From what I've found the Parker Hale company used actions from different vendors and then assembled them into well thought out working rifles in England (Birmingham?) with typical British efficiency.

Actually I did Check Hornady Ammo.
Mid-South and others have it for what I thought was not too bad a price. All I'm gonna probably do with this boomer is wack a whitetail or two.
For the last twenty years or so Every weapon I've bought has been a deer gun. Assault Rifle...Deer Gun .... Slug Gun ... Deer Gun
...Big Bore Pistol... Yep. It just seems like Parker-Hale has little or no history in the way big bore. (at least no BIG PRESS)
This rig has a Williams peep and is literaly cherry. I'm really tickled to have it. Not in a big hurry to start putting rounds downrange, I've got all fall and winter. Just lookin' for some input... any tips etc.

It's shotgun/muzzleloader only over there isn't it? Hope you find a big un where ever you get to hunt with your new Brit rifle. Big Grin

Shotgun for me. I spent too much money and time putting together a slug rig (hastings barrel..WAY TOO much $ in Different sabots however, this thing is scary in accuracy.
These damn hornady SST's are the cat whiskers.
