twilli.375 H&H Load
Wondering if anyone has a >375 H& H load with Federal 215 primer and .300 Gr Swift-Aframe they would be willing to share. Not finding a lot of reloading data with that bullet and primer.

OngweA lot of folks like about 70 grains of Reloader 15 with those components. I have always got better results with about 76 grains of H4350. That is a compressed load, FWIW.
Shoots inch-ish at 2550fps.
Depends on the case, start low, work up, yada yada. Good luck!

I've got the Swift reloading book I'll scan you in a few pages tomorrow. It's after Midnight here right now
Well I guess I only used the book a few time cause it's really stiff I don't want to break the binding so I'll type them in. This is straight out of the Swift Reloading Manual Number One, page 243 Hope this helps.

Puddle300 gr. A-Frame, 215 Match primer.
74.6 gr. H4350, 3.575" COAL, Avg. MV 2,455 fps, SD of 9.
I like mine at ~2460 fps, but when I go beyond this charge the SD jumps to double digits.

lee440Twilli, your components used with the aforementioned 70 grains of R-15 is the load I use, and other African hunters I know, have used to great effect on DG. All of my 375's love it, YMMV.
Of course, you need to work up to that load.

JohnlyRL-17 delivers the best accuracy and velocity in my 375s. My 375 Bee with Rl-17 puts 300 gr. Nosler AB downrange at nearly 2800 fps.

.458 OnlyHave just finished my blog for Saturday in which I state that RL-17 is the best for the .375 H&H shooting 300s... or words to that effect.
77 grains under the 300gr TSX at a recorded 2730 fps from my 22" H&H. Corrected to MV = 2740 fps/5000 ft-lbs. Probably for the 270 TSX also. Will know in a week or so.

AtkinsonFor Dangerous Game in the 375s Id hold velocity down to around 2500 fPS, its worked better for me than pushing them full out, more penetration, better (slower expansion) be kind to your bullets! velocity doesn't kill big stuff on a lot of ocassions..

My son and I shoot 70 grains of RL15 and Federal 215’s out of both our 375’s. I think we get about 2,400-2,450 with it and all we shoot are 300 grain bullets. Both rifles group various bullets pretty much all together, whether TSX, A Frames, Bearclaws or even cutting edge solids. Groups with mixed bullets tend to be about 1.25” and single brand bullets around .75”.
2,400, give or take, seems to be a great velocity for killing game. It just works real well.

Austin Hunter70-71 grains of RL15/Norma203B or Varget is always a good bet for any 300 gr 375 H&H load.

MARK H. YOUNGTom,
80 grains of IMR 4350 will fit in a Winchester 375 case if you use a drop tub and tap the case as you pour the powder in. If you look at some old loading info you even see 81 grains. This load is very compressed with a 300 SAF but it will work nicely.

FredIIIMy pre64 absolutely loves RL 17 at 76grains fed215m in Norma brass. It’s running at 2620fps and would easily hit the 2800 fps mark with 81 grains if I was playing let’s maker buck.

Invented by your self or find anywhere?
(I "invented" this exact load more than 10 years ago when RL17 was neither published nor recommended for .375 H&H -

Mssgn70 grains of R15 works fine but I found 68 grains of R15 to be just a little more accurate in my Winchester model 70 and that load still has plenty of power to do everything I want it to.
