ID ing a Whitworth express 458 win
I have an Interarms Whitworth express in 458 win. It has an extra recoil lug 4 inches ahead of the reciever. Proof marks are bmp with a crown on both reciever and barrel. Left side of the reciever is marked "whitworth express rifle". top of the barrel marked "whitworth rifle company limited manchester england", right side of reciever is marked "interarms. It does not have the original recoil pad and has been replaced with a decelerator. Date of manufacture is 07/1974.
Can someone tell me the approx value of this rifle.
Thank you,
Lucio Vidaurri III

Hi,

PM Frank Martinez as he is the accepted Whitworth guru on this forum. They are great rifles for their cost. If there are sticky bolt or feeding issues they are easily remedied. I have one just as yours. Mine started life as a 458 and had it's chamber reamed to Lott. Does yours have a cut out at the top rear of the front receiver ring? Mine does and I do not think a 458 requires such. Interesting.

I realize my response does not address your question. My guess would be between $800 and $1400.

Luck,

Stephen

Here is more Whitworth Information
Shortround, I sent you an e-mail.
Your description at first sounds like a Whitworth rifle but did not tell me who actually assembled it. Your photos and requested should. The more I look into these rifles the more difficult it becomes to nail down the details.
Regarding sales, that is a crapshoot right now and will depend on how much you need to sell and more importantly, how much the buyer wants to buy. I usually base it how much extra cash and how many other purchases I am making at the time.
More and more people are realizing how nice these rifles are.
