500 NE 3"
I need help to get loading data for 500 NE 3". I plan to build a 500 NE 3" on a Ruger #1. Maybe there is other good choice in calibers. Can I get 2200 f/s with a 570 grains bullet from a 500 NE 3" without to high pressure?

Maybe a 470 NE is a better choice. I have an 458WM now in another rifle so I want a bigger bullet size in this. Otherwise I had built a 458 lott on this Ruger #1

I used to own a Ruger #1 in 500 NE 3". It weighed 10 lbs and was a brute of a gun to shoot and really needed
a recoil reducer or two in the butt (which the new owner put in and this tamed it a bit).
With a 500 Nitro you have the option of different bullet weights (440gn, 525gn, 570gn, 600gn + probably some others) unlike the 470 Nitro.

I got 1955 - 2055fps out of it but it started to get a bit heavy on the recoil (and I am used to shooting 450+ calibres). No pressure problems with this velocity.

You should be able to get close to 2200 f/s with a 570 grains bullet from a 500 NE 3"
without to high pressure but I am not a gunsmith and would suggest emailing someone
on the forum like rodgunbuilder or other qualified gunsmiths.

Hope this helps.
