Shot Very Poorly Today.
Recently changed scopes on my cz 550 .416 to a 1-4x20 leupold. Using my load for AR2209 and 410 gr woodleigh in a Norma case which I know is aload that goes 1.5"to 1.8" for 3 shots at 100yards depending on how I go, I only managed to shoot a group of five that went just under 4" at 110 yards Height perfect all 2" high but 2 shots spread horizontally either side of the bull with 1 landing directly above the bull.
Also managed to crawl the stock and cut my nose open.

Used the standing bench technique and held forearm while resting over bonnet of ute using a sand bag for support.
all in all I shot

poor

Don_GThere's a distinct possibility that the scope went South for the winter.
My 1.75-6x32 Leupold had to go in after the first few days of practice. It has since held up fine for over 900 rounds.
I use a Past Magnum pad off the bench, and discard it for offhand and stick practice.
A tree is a much better rest than a ute.
PC,
I find coming back to the big bangers can be challenging at times. Maybe your just out of practice, or the mounts were a little loose etc etc. If it does end up being the scope, then let me know as I have a 6x Leupold I'm suss on that I'd like to send back for a factory look-see.
Cheers...
Con

RobgunbuilderSounds like Death of scope, mounts screws to me.-Rob
Folks everthing was tight................... and I bought the target in closer to 65 yards and shot 2 shots and both where around 1" apart directly above the bull. I actually took allen keys out etc. and checked tightness of everything between shots.
I think it was me and I did have trouble holding on the red dot at 110 yards on 4x as the cross haris covered it all at that range.
I reckon the scope should be right as it was fine on my 45/70 and then on my .375 H&H probably 400 odd rounds of use to date.
I have found if scoipes are going to go south it's usually in the first 50 or so shots.
One thing after I got it on the board and then put the target out to 110 yards I was shooting with a Hot barrel.
Maybe I need to go again and fire a 3 shot group from a cool cold barrel.
Your Right Con I have been mucking about with shotties, a .338 win mag, .300 RUM which weigh's a heap and a .243 for the past few months (did fire 20 or so .585 rounds a few months back) so I am out of practice with the hard kickers for sure.
Your nervous system is shot. Send that cannon to me and I'll check it out.
