New safety for Rem XCR II in 375 Weatherby
Hi, my son and I have been Rem 700 fans for a long time, but we both hate the new Remington 700 safety which doesn't lock the bolt. He was hunting black bear in Southern New Mexico and the bolt snagged on brush and opened several times.

So we want to put a new safety on it, and if we have to install a Jewell trigger so be it. So the question: Is there a two position safety (like the older Rem 700 ones) that locks the bolt down on safe we can install and if there is one do we need to replace the trigger? If not, I've been in touch with Ed Lapour about installing a 3 pos M70 type safety on it. Not sure if that requires a trigger replacement. The rifle is scary accurate, very light and already has two bears (my brown bear, my son's nice black bear) under it's belt, so we're not going to sell it.

Thanks!

Regards,

Chuck

Ed Lapour, IMHO, makes the best one, or at least he did. I think he sold his design to another metalsmith.

PTG makes a few different ones to fit the M700. You will not have to change triggers.
