.500 Nitro Rim Thickness
Just wondering if any of you .500 Nitro shooters could tell me what your rim thickness is.
I am working on a wildcat using a .500 Nitro 3.25" case, but the rim seems to be a little thin (.035"). I don't have any of the other Nitro cases to compare it to.
Thanks for your help.

I just checked my HDS case and it shows to be right at .038. Pretty thin.

I also measured a 470 Nitro case from Norma and it has a rim thickness of .034. I think your measurement is probably pretty darned close to actual average.

For reference, my antique Kynoch 577 measures .047 rim thickness.

I have one sample each of Bertram, BELL, and HDS 500 NE cases sitting on my desk. The Bertram measures between .033" and .035". The BELL is slightly thicker at .038" - .040". The HDS measures anywhere between .035" and .040" depending on where I take the measurement.
