Tritium front sight for mod. 70
Greetings all, just wondering if anyone has or still makes a tritium front sight for any heavy bolt guns? I'm looking for one for my mod 70 .458, think it would work great with the XS sights ghost ring sight that I have on it! I'm also looking for Nickeled 458 WM Brass, anyone know where I can find some. Thanks.

I looked hard for some tritium front sights to fit in the Model 70 ramp front sight and never found any. I did find Williams Fire Sights which I ordered from Brownells. Williams make the front sight ramp on the Model 70 for Winchester and you will want the narrow (.250") width base in the factory standard dovetail. If you find a drop-in tritium front let me know.

Trijicon apparently has a custom shop, in which they can make whatever you desire.

I bet it would be expensive though.

Nframe,

Do you expect to be doing a lot of shooting at night?

LOL No just have a hard time seeing that tiny factory gold bead, I thought a Tritium dot in conjunction with the XS ghost rings would be a great combo.

I am told that Trijicon, if you supply a front sight that can take one of their dots(maybe .150+ wide???), will do it for $125 or less(depending on the complexity of the drilling procedure)......

the other thing you can try is the light intensifying plastic inserts. As my eyes get older(something I cant understand because I just stay at the same age) they want brighter light. I ended up milling in a green insert into the front sight and a orange one into the rear sight of my 470. Just put the green onto of the orange & volla. Anyway it sure worked great for me.

Tritium sights are not that bright in daylight (at least the ones on my .45ACP aren't). I think the fiber optic sights or an old-style large warthog ivory bead will be more visible.

If you are using a ghost peep then the NECG partridge with a gold face and square is the best hunting sight for large game. It will give you the very best sight picture under all conditions.

I just called the Trijicon custom shop and basically for 85.00 they'll install a tritium "lamp" in practically any sight bead you send them.

their number is on the trijicon web site.
