hoehneSako L61R
Any thought on the above in .375 H&H? Have a chance to buy one in good shape at a good price. Thanks-Karl

cordellHi Karl,
Sako rifles are excellent, and the .375HH is a versatile cartridge and loved by many. Combine those two factors with two other important factors, "in good shape and at a good price". Go get it while you can!

I have owned several in the past, and still have a Finnbear in 30-06 that I am very fond of. Take care and God bless you and yours.

Savage99I have had a L61R with a .375 Improved barrel on it. The action does not have much of a recoil lug at all, the safety only locks the trigger and worst of all it's not CRF.
Remember the guide who got his hands and leg bit by a bear in Alaska this year? It was because the rifle was double stroked as a bear charged and it jammed.
The actions have a dovetail on the bridges for the mounts which is a good system. At least the Sako rings I have hold well.

GeorgeSI've owned three of them (7mmSTW, .338WM, .375H&H). I still have the .338.
They are accurate, lightweight, solidly built, and well-made rifles. I wish Sako had not discontinued them in favor of the Model 75.

Savage99I would buy a Sako also as they are very well made. However they are not a good design for use as a dangerous game rifle.

lawndartI have one in a McMillan stock. It ain't for sale! You'd best jump on that rifle like a cat on a Junebug. I like that model much better than the 75's. Got seven of them, and I'm not done buying them yet.
